Since 2015 I have had the privilege of being a Jag and working with this magnificent team in the RCHS Learning Commons. I grew up in Greeley and have left Colorado a couple of times, but I have always come back to this beautiful state, and it is here with my husband, Allan, and our dogs, Sam and Jesse, that I’m happy to make my home.
I spent 10 years at Highlands Ranch High School where I was the Teacher Librarian for three years and an English teacher for seven, teaching English I Honors, College Prep Writing, Humanities, Public Speaking, and Journalism, as well as advising the HR Chronicle student newspaper. I have also taught at eDCSD Colorado Cyber School, Douglas County High School, Sheridan High School, and Aragon Middle School in Fountain, Colorado. I earned my B.A. in English with a minor in Mathematics Education from Olivet Nazarene University in Illinois, and my M.A. in English Literature and Composition from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
From books to tech and ideas to answers, we have a lot to offer here in the “LMC,” so if you’re in the building, please stop by and see us!
I’m originally from Southern California. Along with my husband and two sons, we made the move to Colorado in 2007. This was the same year I saw my first snowfall. Although I miss my family in California, the soothing sights and sounds of the beaches plus all the great attractions (especially Disneyland), I really love everything that Colorado has to offer. It is a true delight to see the leaves change color, the snow-capped mountains and the ground covered in snow glistening in the moonlight.
Family time is very dear to my heart and I look forward to the road trips that we take during the summer as we visit other parts of the United States. So far we’ve had the opportunity to visit 20 states. On weekends, I’m usually at one of my sons’ activities, whether it be sports or Boy Scouts. Whenever possible I love to get lost in a good book.
I’ve been with Douglas County School District since 2012 where I started as the Librarian at Meadow View Elementary. I joined the great RCHS Staff in 2017. I’ve been an avid reader from a very early age and it’s my sincere hope to pass on my love of reading to the many students I encounter on a daily basis. One of the favorite quotes summarizes why I believe reading is so important:
“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”

I have spent most of my adult life living and enjoying Colorado.
In 1994, my family and I moved from Colorado to a North Dakota small town near Fargo. In North Dakota, I worked at a small college, NDSCS, for 10 years in their purchasing department. In 2005, my family and I left North Dakota and returned to Colorado and the Rocky Mountains.
I have been at Rock Canyon since 2006 as part of the office staff. In 2015 I joined the awesome Rock Canyon Learning Commons team as a library assistant.
I enjoy hiking, sewing and spending time with my family and my two dogs.
