I grew up in Colorado and graduated from Cherry Creek High School. Leaving Colorado, I went to Creighton University in Omaha Nebraska and majored in Psychology and Pre-Med. In the year after I graduated I worked at a psychiatric hospital for adolescents and found my passion and talent for working with teens. In 1994 I moved back to Colorado and began my journey with teenagers as a science teacher and youth director. In 1998 I married my wife Allison and we decided to teach a year in South Africa. It was during this year that I also found my passion for high school education. Upon our return in 2001 I worked for a few years with at-risk high school drop outs while I worked on my Masters in Counseling through University of Northern Colorado. I received my degree and began working for Douglas County High School as a high school counselor in 2003 and decided to make a move to Rock Canyon High School in 2011. I love helping teens find their passion in life. I welcome students to make appointments with me at anytime that is needed. Outside of school my first priority is being an active father with my two sons and a loving husband to my wife. I love the outdoors and take every opportunity that I have to camp, hike, and mountain bike. I really do love my job and look forward to interacting with students every day.
I love my job! This is something my families will often hear me say when I’m meeting with them or their student. I was born and raised in Pueblo, Colorado and eventually journeyed up north to attend at the University of Colorado at Boulder where I majored in Biochemistry. After undergrad, (and a three-year soul search) I followed up my education with a Master’s degree in School Counseling. This graduate program was one of the best decisions I ever made because I truly enjoy working with teens; specifically, helping them navigate and find success during their short but very meaningful high school careers. Last but not least, Family is extremely important to me and for this reason, in my free time, you’ll find me devoted to my other job as a wife and mother to two beautiful kids. Go Buffs, Go Jags, Go Rockies and Go Broncos!!
I have been a high school counselor since 2005. Prior to that I worked in the marketing and communications field at an overseas financial institution. Working with high school students has been my dream and passion, and I love supporting students during these critical four years. I was thrilled to join the Rock Canyon team in 2013 and absolutely love being here! In addition to working with the students and families with last names A-Cooke, some of my other duties include assisting with AP testing, and serving on the Seminar Committee and Building Leadership Team for the district. In my free time, you can find me running around with my two kids, or spending time with the family in the mountains.
