A Rock Canyon Morning

eBlast to Parents 02.27.18
Good afternoon Jaguar Community,
We hope this finds you doing well as we prepare to enter March this week. We wanted to take an opportunity to communicate with you on some pressing items and upcoming dates.
SAFETY AND SECURITY
Safety and security will always be a top priority for Rock Canyon High School. With the increase in school violence, we want to assure you we will continue to conduct periodic exercises throughout the remainder of the school year. These exercises are a joint effort under the direction of School’s Administration, DCSD Security Personnel, Littleton Fire Rescue and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. Reviewing and practicing these procedures help ensure us our plans are always current and familiar to both staff and students.
This week our teachers will be reviewing “Lockout & Lockdown” procedures with all of our students during Seminar. This information helps everyone to know what to do in the event of a threat either inside or outside of the building. As we go through these safety drills quarterly, we are very pleased with how well our students and staff responded to each of these exercises.
We encourage you to view our Standard Response Protocol (SRP) and to have discussions with your students about how they may react in a variety of situations. The protocols that we follow can be found at www.iloveuguys.org. Rock Canyon High School is committed to providing a safe and secure learning environment for all students at Rock Canyon High School. We value your partnership in creating this environment.
PARENT PARTY “ROCK THE NIGHT AWAY”
The 3rd annual Rock the Night Away fundraiser was a great success thanks to the generosity of our fantastic community! This event serves to bring people together, allowing us to provide a fun atmosphere to help create a strong sense of school community, spirit and pride. The success of Rock Canyon High School (and really all schools), rests heavily on the support and dedication of the parents and the community. Your contributions will go a long way in supporting our mission; that mission is to promote community involvement, working together to raise funds that will benefit ALL students at Rock Canyon. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support!!
With much gratitude,
RCHS Community Alliance
Senior Announcements 02.06.18
Dear Seniors and Parents,
This semester is going quickly and we need your help! We need all seniors to pick a letter and materials for their senior collages and bring them home. These materials were distributed in the Commons during Access and lunch periods today and will be available again on Thursday, February 8. The Senior Hall After Prom Sub-Committee would like all seniors to stop by the Commons to pick up the materials on Thursday if they have not already done so. The deadline to guarantee a spot on the wall of the Senior Hall is March 9.
The Parent Party is on Saturday, February 24, at Mike Ward Maserati (18500 Lucent Court in Highlands Ranch). This adults-only party is a fun, casual night with friends, food, a cash bar and live music by the band “HipPocket”. This is an all-school fundraiser that will benefit all students through teacher grants, After Proms and other school-wide requests. Get tickets here. There will be an online auction starting on February 16 as well, so please watch for details.
Jostens will be distributing graduation announcements and tankards on Tuesday, March 13, 9:45am-1: 15 pm outside the RC Auditorium. Students, if you placed an order, then please pick up your announcements and/or tankards that day! If you have any questions regarding caps, gowns, announcements, etc., please go to the Jostens website at www.milehighschoolsupply.com or call 303-470-5136.
Additional graduation information will be sent out after Spring Break.
Have a great week!

Important Senior Information - Class of 2018
eBlast to Seniors and Parents - January 2018
Good afternoon Seniors and Parents,
Your year has finally arrived! Welcome to 2018. The RCHS Graduation Committee has been working hard to ensure that this year will be our best graduation yet!
As part of the end of year events, Student Council has put together the attached flyer of information that will be distributed to all seniors the week of January 22. There are many important dates and times to remember which include auditions to speak or perform at one of three major events, senior celebrations, rehearsals, Honors Night and Graduation. Auditions are coming up quickly so please note the dates as detailed in the flyer.
Honors Night will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, May 25 at Cherry Hills Community Church in Highlands Ranch. As previously communicated, graduation will be held at Magness Arena at The Ritchie Center on the University of Denver campus on May 26, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. Both of these venues will allow for more people to attend in a more comfortable (and weather resistant) environment. Due to increased seating capacity, no tickets will be required for either event.
A detailed letter regarding graduation will be mailed to your homes in March following Spring Break. That letter will explain more about transportation to the event, what to wear, ADA seating, parking, etc.
We are looking forward to the coming months and all of the final milestones you will experience as high school seniors.
Parents, thank you for your support as we navigate through your student’s senior year. Please stay focused and finish strong Jags!

Graduation Plans with Forecasted Weather
Hello Class of 2017 and Families,
We wanted to confirm the following with you:
Senior Awards Night will be held tonight, Thursday May 18th at 7:00 p.m. in the Main Gymnasium. Invited Seniors should plan to meet in the Auxiliary Gym by 6:45 p.m. Black Robes and nice dress clothes and shoes are appreciated. Graduation caps will not be needed.
Graduation will be at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday May 20th at EchoPark Automotive Stadium. Please check the forecast and dress accordingly. We kindly ask that robes can fit over the graduates clothes / coats. It currently shows that it will be cold but hopefully sunny.
Graduates need to arrive at RCHS by 7:00 a.m. on Saturday and meet in the Main Gym. From there they will get final details and their last ride on the big yellow bus to EchoPark. This is a one-way ride so they will need to leave with families.
Thank you all for your patience, flexibility and understanding during this time.
Sincerely,
RCHS Graduation Planning Team
